The Right to Be Forgotten - Workology

The Right to Be Forgotten - Workology Hasty Tweets How to Delete Them Ever wished that your late night drunken tweet didnt get tweeted or that video of you doing unmentionables vanished into thin air?  Yep, its the curse of the Internet.  A year ago, I was out with some good friends in Las Vegas.  I drank too much and had a great time at a dueling piano bar.   I woke up early the next morning to be interviewed by a reporter at 6:00 AM PST to find a semi-scandalous  tweet I posted from the night before. Hasty Tweets How to Delete Them I did what any person would do.  I blamed the tweet on someone else.  Clearly someone had stolen my phone and tweeted because that tweet couldnt have come from me.  Except that it did.  I quickly deleted the tweet but knew that somewhere and somehow that tweet was still out there.  Indexed by the friendly search engines forever held hostage from me for the public to see even if I didnt want it to be.  I wanted it forgotten so I could pretend like it never ever happened. How Online Privacy Laws Affect You In the United States, that is the breaks when it comes to online privacy and laws.  We post and that image, message, or video becomes public domain.  Its called free speech.  We have no right for it to be forgotten or removed from the Internet.  Its like the gossip that wont stop and factor in the hard evidence that cant be removed forever. In 2008, 27 year old Jon Favreau posted a seemingly innocent photo on Facebook  of him with a friend who was holding a beer and kissing a cardboard cutout of Hilary Clinton.   Favreaus hand was also casually cupping the cardboard cutouts breast.  Now, weve all seen our share of these types of photos on our timeline from friends, colleagues, and acquaintances, but what if I told you that Favreau was the now President Obamas lead speed writer, and that the photo (see to the right) was posted during his the presidential election. The photo which stayed posted on Facebook for two hours was one of those right to be forgotten moments.  Favreaus post resulted in a media circus, and frankly Im surprised he kept his job. Introducing the Right to be Forgotten The future offers legal recourse for situations like Favreaus.  The future offers the right to be forgotten.  Messages, videos, and photographs deleted, erased, and removed from the Internet.  Imagine if your electronic footprint and online personal brand was no more and completely and voluntarily by choice.  A recent case demonstrates this fact from the European Union involving Argentinean pop star Virgina DaCunha.  DeCaunha posed for some racy pictures which made their way to the Internet and sued Google, Yahoo, and other search engines asking for those photos to be removed.  A judge, however, agreed and ordered that all sites with racy pictures that included her name be removed.  Yahoos Argentina search engine now yields no image results when someone search her name complete with a legal notice.  This is the  right to be forgotten. Where is Employer Internet Privacy Line? From an HR and employment law perspective this is troubling news.  As someone has worked hard to build and craft my own personal brand, this privacy option could have its place.  For companies who choose to use social media, google and the Internet as part of their background check processes, this Internet privacy protection precedent provides an entirely new can of worms to follow, and spells money and trouble for websites like Facebook, Twitter, Google, and Yahoo.  If employees and job seekers can completely remove all traces of them from the Internet, what types of legal hot waters can companies who employ social media background checks and even those who use social recruiting get themselves into? How to Choose and Partner with a Recruiter

The most effective method to Choose and Partner with a Recruiter The most effective method to Choose and Partner with a Recruiter It is safe to say that you are thinking about working with a selection representative? These experts can assist you with getting recruited - on the whole, you need to discover someone whos a solid match to encourage your specific quest for new employment. For an effective relationship, its a smart thought for you to acknowledge a portion of the duty regarding the association. As a scout, one inquiry I pose to each activity searcher that I collaborate with is: What do dislike about working with selection representatives? The accompanying recommendations depend on the appropriate responses I have gotten, and will assist you with seeing how to choose and function with the right employment recruiter for your necessities. What the Recruiter Should Ask You Upon your underlying contact, does the enrollment specialist inquire as to yourself and your inclinations and set aside some effort to become more acquainted with you, before clarifying their plan? I have a standard for myself: I enlist the manner by which I need to be enrolled. There will never be a special case. Does the enrollment specialist share some data about themselves? You need to realize that you are working with an individual that will be expertly compassionate to you. You and your enrollment specialist will in a perfect world be accomplices, cooperating to find you an occupation that will meet every one of your standards. In the event that you don't feel great conversing with your selection representative, or communicating your requirements, the relationship is probably not going to meet with progress. Inquiries to Pose to the Recruiter Here are some fundamental inquiries to pose to the scout before you build up an organization. To what extent have you have been recruiting? Can you share the names of a portion of the businesses you have worked with? What is your selecting specialty? Do you work with organizations that are hoping to employ somebody with my capabilities and experience? How numerous individuals with my experience have you gotten recruited in the last year?Who pays your fee? (it ought to be the recruiting organization) Spotter Follow-Up How as often as possible would it be a good idea for us to catch up with one another and by what means will we do that? Regularly, even with email, Twitter, and each other present day innovation accessible, the phone is the best, and generally quick, instrument accessible for the enrollment specialist and the activity searcher. Be sure that the spotter has the entirety of your refreshed contact data (home and wireless, email that isn't your present bosses, LinkedIn, and Twitter). Verify you have the spotters favored method of contact. In the event that it is just the enrollment specialists email, I would be concerned. Affirm Your Arrangement Request that the spotter please affirm what you have talked about in an email. Even better, you can affirm what was talked about in an email that you send to the enrollment specialist. Advise the scout not to send your resume to any organizations without your authorization. Solicit the scout the name from the customers you are being submitted to. You need to maintain a strategic distance from different entries to a similar organization without anyone else and additionally different spotters no matter what. This can stop your endeavor to land a situation with that organization right away. Your Job Search The spotter ought to ask you where you are in your own endeavors to discover a position. If not, advise the spotter where and what you are doing. On the off chance that you have a proposal for work and have not authoritatively acknowledged it, educate the selection representative. At the point when You Have an Interview Approach the spotter for the customer organization site address. Do your homework. Research the organization. Ensure the enrollment specialist has given you the name(s) and titles of the person(s) you will meet with and what the talking procedure is. Google the name(s) of the interviewer(s). Quest LinkedIn for the questioners name and read their profile. Join forces with your scout on this. This exhibits to the scout your degree of duty and the enrollment specialists level of promise to you. Pose the enrollment specialist what inquiries to expect on the meeting. The scout ought to have the option to set you up for the meeting with questions. Affirm Compensation Talk about in detail what the remuneration for the position is. Affirm a concession to pay with the spotter through email. Most organizations today will have an advantages connect on their site, so keep an eye on benefits, also. How to Avoid the 7 Most Common Regrets People Have Late In Life

Instructions to Avoid the 7 Most Common Regrets People Have Late In Life Knowing the past is 20/20. We as a whole think back and wish marry done life any other way now and again on the grounds that, when we have greater lucidity in the present, we can all the more effectively perceive what we could have maybe dealt with better before. In any case, in all actuality your present is just what it is a direct result of the choices and moves you made from quite a while ago. Which is the reason you truly shouldnt live with regrets. But living without any second thoughts is more difficult than one might expect, regardless of whether you do comprehend that your life unfurls precisely how its expected to. That is the reason such huge numbers of individuals battle with despondency when theyre kicking the bucket in light of the fact that theyre scared of death, yet in addition on the grounds that theyre remorseful of what theyd done or wish they had done all through their life.Everyone is extraordinary and, all things considered, beneficial encounters or scarcity in t hat department will extraordinarily affect every one of us. In any case, here are probably the most widely recognized second thoughts that individuals have toward the finish of their lives.1. I wish Id invested more energy with companions and family. We invest the majority within recent memory working and, regularly, when were not working, were all the while contemplating work removing time from our public activities to react to an email on our cell phones or take a speedy business call. We live in a world in which an excessive number of us battle to define limits and, all things considered, we smash our own work-life balance. No one ever leaves this planet wishing theyd invested less energy with loved ones, the individuals who bring them euphoria, challenge them, assist them with developing and backing them.2. I wish Id communicated my actual self.In a general public that so regularly puts us each in boxes and slaps marks on us, communicating our actual selves can be scary. Truth be told, we realize that those of us who do communicate with certainty and conviction are, shockingly, met with unwarranted, spontaneous assessments of others and, some of the time, social penalization. But living as you is still universes better than living as another person just to mollify others. Nobody has ever passed on wishing theyd kept away from acting naturally increasingly, regardless of whether their hardships for doing so are valid.3. I wish Id voyaged a greater amount of the world. The world is such a major spot, and the vast majority of us just observe a little cut of it. Such a large number of us spend our lives saying, itll need to hold up until one year from now or later when I have additional time or when I can discover somebody to go with me. The best time in life is consistently now.Of course, numerous individuals have work, family or wellbeing confusions that preclude them from having the option to go as openly as others. In any case, actually, in the event that you can travel, pushing it off isnt going to go anyplace. Theres a universe of different societies, scenes, nourishments, musics and progressively out there that you can leave never having seen and that is significantly more unnerving than placing in an excursion demand at work.4. I wish Id pursued that vocation goal. Many of us stay in employments that dont satisfy us or, more awful, that are harmful. Less of us, then again, really make advances toward our profession dreams since its simple and helpful and agreeable to remain. Be that as it may, the individuals who do pursue their vocation objectives whether its beginning a business or going after a position at an organization theyve consistently respected or giving outsourcing a shot or requesting an advancement are better off.Thats in light of the fact that, regardless of whether their organizations come up short or theyre left behind for advancements, at any rate they attempted. The individuals who dont attempt will never recognize w hat could have been.5. I wish Id made a move for an affection I deserve.Plenty of individuals remain seeing someone that they know are unfortunate, to a great extent for similar reasons that individuals remain in employments that make them troubled: The recognizable is agreeable, and its only simpler to wait. An excessive number of individuals, accordingly, let love go.And whenever they dont allow themselves to be cherished and give love the sort of affection they merit and are competent and needing to share it can negatively affect their own self esteem. Making a move for genuine romance whether that is working for a relationship that just bodes well, discarding a relationship that doesnt work or simply putting yourself out there will never be going to hurt you over the long haul. Regardless of whether things dont work out, causing moves and learning exercises en route to can just make you stronger.6. I wish Id let myself be happier. We spend such a large amount of our lives making a decision about ourselves, as we are genuinely our own harshest pundits. While we may know and comprehend that correlation is simply the criminal of euphoria, we despite everything set ourselves in opposition to our companions and companions and figure I ought to procure more, I ought to have a greater house, I ought to have a consistent relationship at this point, I ought to have more cash spared, I ought to be more slender, I ought to be this or that.Letting yourself be cheerful expects you to acknowledge what your identity is, and love yourself for it regardless of whether you realize that there are components of your life that youd like to change or improve. Being upbeat is as a rule interestingly you without judgment, while continually hoping to develop in whatever shape that development takes for you.7. I wish Id focused on less about things outside of my control. We time after time worry ourselves over things that have small significance over the long haul. We care a lot abou t things we can't control, for instance. Also, experiencing life continually stressed over things we can't change doesnt do us any good.Thats why nobody leaves this world reasoning that they wish theyd have thought increasingly about the inescapable.- - AnnaMarie Houlis is a women's activist, an independent columnist and an undertaking fan with a fondness for hasty performance travel. How to answer competency-based questions - Margaret Buj - Interview Coach

How to answer competency-based questions - Margaret Buj - Interview Coach If there is one thing most of my clients have in common is that they struggle with answering competency or behavioral interview questions  during job interviews. Even if an employer has not told you that you will be involved in a behavioral style of an interview, you are still likely to face “behavioral/competency interview” style questions. Traditional interview questions ask you basic questions such as, “Tell me a little bit about  yourself.” The process of competency based interviewing is much more challenging. A prospective employer will try to make a prediction of your future success by understanding how you have handled situations in the past. In a traditional interview, you can usually get away with somewhat vague, general answers. In a competency interview, on the other hand, they’re going to be asking you for very specific examples. Be prepared to be asked for details, including names of people, dates, and outcomes. They’ll ask you about lengthy projects you’ve been involved in: How your role evolved, how you handled deadlines, pressures and difficult personalities, how you went about thinking through problems, how you determined what steps to take, and in what order. When you give examples from your work experience, the interviewer is going to probe you to try to understand how you think. The questions will start with “Tell about a time…” or “Describe a situation…” and then you might be encouraged to elaborate further with questions like “So what were you thinking at that point?” or “What was your decision making process?” The interviewer  will try to establish what benefits you will bring to the company, and where your benefits might be greater than those of other candidates. Therefore, when giving examples, I’d recommend that you use the S.T.A.R. Statement format: S  â€" Situation T  â€" Task A  â€" Action R  â€" Result S.T.A.R. represents how your key skills are applied in work. Your STAR examples should illustrate your depth of knowledge, level of ability and value for each key skill. Situation/Task Describe a work-related situation that you were in or the task that you needed to  accomplish. Be very specific and give details, but keep it short and concise. Action Describe the action you took and be sure to keep the focus on you. Even if you are discussing a group project or effort, describe what you did â€" not the efforts of the team. Don’t tell what you MIGHT do, or WOULD do â€" tell what you DID do. Results Describe what you achieved. What happened? How did the event end? What did you  accomplish? What did you learn? How much time/money did you save? Take the time to develop and practice your S.T.A.R. statements! You’ll want to have AT  LEAST six to eight S.T.A.R. statements at the tip of your tongue when you go into an  interview. Create S.T.A.R. statements from the jobs on your resume  that you want to  bring attention to. As you use the statements as examples, your interviewer will become  familiar with the various positions you have held, and will get a good idea of your track  record of success in those various positions.
